Ruffin ready to tackle role as Friday starter

"This season we're doing a lot of four-game weekends, so that's going to take a lot more out of the pitching," Ruffin said. "We've got a smaller pitching staff in numbers than we did last year. To soak up more innings is going to be crucial for our pitchers, and so far we've been doing an outstanding job."

While the quantity on the pitching staff may not be comparable to past seasons, the quality is certainly there, according to Ruffin.


"It's really solid," Ruffin said of the current crop of Texas pitchers. "We've got some crazy depth in the pitching rotation, so every time someone goes out there and starts, he's going to put up good numbers just like anybody else would be on the staff."
