Another victim of Lyndon Johnson's Great Society.

Oh, Lord, shut up Gamma.
This was a guy with a substance abuse problem he could not beat. It wasn't LBJ or Great Society or being beaten by the cops or fame or LAPD. It wasn't Bill Clinton or Ronald Reagan. It wasn't your fault or mine. It was his.
He, like millions of others, could not beat a substance abuse problem, and it killed him.

You're the one who needs to go into a state of profound silence and mourning. If you and the rest of the liberal Democrats are not ashamed of what Lyndon Johnson's welfare state did to the black middle class, including millions just like Rodney King, you ought to be. Crime, drugs, welfare mothers, broken families, and virtually zero legitimate educational opportunities for the majority of black Americans represent the unbelievably tragic legacy that Lyndon Johnson and the liberal Democrats left for the black community, and if you don't feel responsible for it, you should.

A question, Gamma. Why didn't the "welfare state" that LBJ developed have the same effect on whites?

Rodney King was not a bad guy. He got the hell beat out of him by some corrupt LA cops, which touched off a riot that nearly destroyed the entire city, but Rodney was never really bitter about it. "Can't we all just get along" was a sincere cry for help by a truly lost soul, and given the environment he had to grow up in, he can't really be blamed for anything, IMO. But it's a different story for the corrupt politicians in Washington, D.C. who created a special handout system for the black community in exchange for their political support. They are the ones responsible for the destruction of the black middle class, and Rodney King is just the tip of the iceberg.
