Anyone Else Nervous About Nebraska?
Not to go all JG on you, but I'm nervous as hell about this game. Helu, Burkhead, Suh, and a revived Zac Lee all have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I know their secondary is torchable, but I'm worried that the defense's performance against aggy's run attack was not completely an aberration. Can someone talk me down off the ledge?

our defense will win this game, period.
i do think their D will keep our offense in check. i'd be real surprised if we scored anything more than in the low-mid 20s (unless our D gets a couple of scores, which isn't out of the question). and their secondary is not as torchable as you think; in fact my only real concern is whether they may get multiple picks offa colt.
but the idea of being worried about helu, burkhead and lee is a real stretch. these are average players, and our D is not only more talented, but (A) pissed at themselves for their performance vs aggy, and (B) pissed at the folks who think nebraska deserves 4 first-team all-conference players compared to just 1 for us.
statement time.

I'm only nervous that we don't completely f*ck it up. If our O line plays a good game, we should win easily. If they're in the backfield all day, it will be a long night.

I am also a bit nervous
However, A&M (besides playing out of their minds in their annual jihad against us) got a lot of their rushing yards (100 out of 190) from Johnson scrambles. They spread out our D and then took advantage of the open middle. And of the two long Johnson runs, only one was a designed run.
I don't see Zach Lee accounting for half of Nebraska's rushing yards. They line up in the I and run at you. I see us having problems in the first few drives, but Muschamp's defense usually gets better as the game goes on with adjustments.
The primary question is whether our offense can hang on to the ball and whether special teams turns around their abysmal play from the last two weeks. I cannot see NU beating us straight, unless we give it over to them, a la Colorado 2001. It can happen, and our offense needs to keep this in mind.
If we get ahead early (even by ten points) then the game is over for NU.

Did you move to Columbus or Detroit?

If our offensive line holds up against their pass rush, I think we'll win fairly comfortably. Our O-line is susceptible to extended periods of poor protection ala Tech and OU.
Assuming our defense plays their normal game, I think we'll be fine. Zach Lee isn't a mobile QB and shouldn't present the same kinds of problems Johnson did last week.

Yes, but a lot of it has to do with the history of the Big XII championship games, starting with Texas over Nebraska. Then there was A&M over K-State, CU over Texas, and K-State over OU. I just keep reminding myself of the games where what was supposed to happen did and that this defense should come out like a disturbed hornets' nest.

If you want to feel better, remember the last CCG during the '05 NC run.

Trust me, I've got some images of that game playing like a loop in my head. I was nervous that whole week too.

Is this the first time our boys have played for a championship ? I know the redshirt seniors were part of our '05 run but they didnt really play. With that, if we step up to the plate, we win by 2-4 touchdowns. If we wilt under the pressure, it will be close and we would have a very real possibility of losing the game.
Since it's this groups first time playing in a game like this, I guess we'll see. I promise you though that we will know if this team is a championship team after Saturday night. If we win convincingly, the NC game will come down to who has the better team. If we barely squeak by Neb, then there I am gonna be worried sick that our team will not only battle Fla/Ala but that they will have to overcome playing in a championship game too and that doesnt bode well for our chances.

Outstanding question. I feel that my Nerves have so little to do with the outcome. I actually believe it is all up to Texas. IF (and I believe they do) Texas wants this game enough, they will find a way to win. Nebraska deserves our respect and they have it. It is just that a hungery Texas team is simply unstoppable. Nebraska can play like they have nothing to lose. I hope Texas plays like they have everything to win. I look forward to Saturday.

I'm ALWAYS nervous about EVERY game!! Anything can happen at any time in a game, the ball can take some very funny bounces, and momentum can change quickly and decisively. I don't stop being nervous until we have a very comfortable lead with little time left to play.

The CU O line crushed us in that game. That is the only way it could happen. The NU O line is not comparable to that one.

Count me in the worried category. If we have a slew of missed tackles (which seems to be the trend recently), we could be in serious trouble.

look, in 01 we would have won if major was in there. But in the end bro, Texas has a quarterback thats on fire in Colt. I know he struggled v. OU, but he was still tryin to hard at that point. Right now, I dont think he does as great as he did vs. ATM but he should be able to.
