I think G. W. Bush was one of the worst presidents ever, saved only by the actions he took at the end, during the financial crisis. Those actions likely saved us for a much greater economic hit. Instead of playing politics, he listened to economists, and took immediate steps.
But other than that, he was terrible. He took a significant surplus and turned it into a half-trillion deficit, and that was BEFORE the recession. He was very naive about Iraq, and allowed himself to be manipulated by Rove and Cheney - Rove because he rightly saw the war as a big political gain for the Pubs, and Cheney because his buddies in the oil industry wanted control of the oil there.
So threw us into a war he had no idea would develop as it did, but a rational person looking at all of the facts would have clearly seen coming. It cost us a trillion bucks at least, and 5,000 Americans lost their lives as a result.
All that said, I certainly don't hate the man. You never saw me calling him "Dumbya" or a Nazi.
Maybe you make my point for me. Why is that because I disagree with the last Pub president you think I hated him? Political disagreement does not have to come with hatred or anger.
|
You might re-read my post. My point was there were many - both Dem politicians and media alike - very vocal of their hatred of GWB. Care to differ with that?
I never accused you of the name calling, but you certainly didn't condemn it either, did you?

I did, actually, on this very board.
I'm not saying that the Pubs are the only ones bearing hatred for the other side. By no means. But there's a difference between saying W Bush "stole the election" (he didn't...it was a tie and it was settled by a partisan vote on the Supreme Court)...or saying he lied to us to get us into Iraq...or blaming the current situation on him...and stuff like this:
"More than 70 people need to see what an irretrievable jackass liar we have as President."
"Then I guess I'm blinded by pure hatred. I wish the CS never lived."
"You support this POS excuse for a president? "
"I hate his f*cking guts"
"I'm ready for a Black president, just not this mutherf*cker."

So, you never saw that type of language from those opposed to GWB on internet boards or on the air from NPR, Air America, Real Time with Bill Maher, et al?
And if you didn't, why did you just claim to complain about it on this very board?

I don't recall seeing people say "I hate his f-ing guts", or saying I wish the c-ck-sucker had never lived. Not on Air America or on this board or anywhere else.
And I hear this stuff from more people than GetHooked. And no, you didn't hear Bill Maher or Air America calling Bush a POS.
There's a difference between that and even calling W "Dumbya". Sorry if you cannot see that.

And even if it's true, which it's not, it's still saying "He hit me first". The reality is that guys like GH have a fiery burning hatred for Obama and the rest of the Dems. Why? What is it about them, or him, that he cannot simply be political opponents without absolutely hating their guts?

So Bill Maher, Michael Moore, Oliver Stone, posters on the Daily Kos, etc, never called GWB names like the ones you quoted?
You gonna stand by that?

He is nothing like Bush, Carter is much closer. Fumbling from one disaster to the next.

Wait, that's not like Dubya? We're talking about the same Bush, right?

I truly don't recall those opposing Bush saying they wished the co-k sucker had never lived. If they did, then they were as wrong as this guy is.
But why in hell are you so busy trying to defend this hate by trying say the other guy did it? Does that make it defensible?

You may have noticed that I didn't defend him. Of course, I'm as pure as the driven snow.

The answer is quite simple (and I'm sure you already know it) .... people like GetHooked are nothing more than sheep living on every word that comes out of Rush & Beck's mouth. They allow the fear that Beck and Rush are selling to consume them to the point where they see red in everything and everything not as far right as they are. Its really a shame that people like this (on either side) are even allowed to vote. I'm sure if someone would bring this thread to the secret services attention that GetHooked would be quickly profiled as a possible future assassin.

I've never defended it, show me where I have. But you are either hopelessly naive or biased not to know both sides engage in this activity. You chose to single out those saying bs about BHO. So your sense of outrage seems a bit late to the party. I'm not defending GH (in fact, if you noticed, I tweaked him quite a bit). I'm calling bs on your highly biased sense of outrage about the "large chunk of the GOP base".
I guess what I'm saying is you have no credibility as a poster in critiquing others rants at BHO as you stood by for 8+ years letting your side do the same to GWB. Clear enough for you now?

I forget his name.
Gosh, it is shocking when someone goes off on the strawman in chief, err the prez.

You forgot Truehorn. I think he'd be offended that he was left off the list. JG is the most rational of the 4 of them (seems odd saying that). I have met two of the four and they couldn't be nicer guys. As a matter of fact, I'm planning to get together with jgxxxx and JG (assuming he has a profitable hurricane season) at the UCLA game. They just seem to be a little misguided politically.

jgxxx was totally nuts. Lat was just a huge kool aid drinker, much like some of the conservatives on this board. Truehorn is a smart guy who's just a colossal prick--love to see an argument between him and Oldest.
I went over to lurk on the scout board the other day and was reminded of austinr. That guy is probably the only poster worse than keys. That board is also a sh*tshow. Really glad those dudes left.

I guess it's mutual. I have absolutely zero respect for the dumbasses that think Obama is doing a good job (or is even qualified for the job).
Trying to take the "high road" is hilarious to me. Typical Dems questioning the intelligence of anyone that disagrees with them. Just so you know, I graduated from the University of Texas with honors. I was there 9 semesters and made the Dean's list 9 times . I also made a little over $400,000 dollars last year.
Not really a redneck or the "bumpkin" that you wish I was. Just disgusted with our jackass-in-chief.
Carry on.

Please. All I have is my vote. I plan to use it on anyone that runs against Obama. I'm not an undecided (or a possible future assassin). YOU need to get out of the deep end.
