Episode 1 airs Sunday, July 16. What do you got?

    Jon and Dany meet?

    Jaime and Cersei split?

    Littlefinger does something sinister?

Not an uncommon opinion, but Jon, Dany, and Bran are the 3 riders.

I just finished re-watching the series in preparation. I forgot what a great episode Winds of Winter is. The opening sequence to the incredible music score is TV perfection.

gotta have Targaryen blood, I think. Trade Tyrian for Bran.

I've thought of that before, but I believe that Bran being such a powerful Warg will allow him to control something of that magnitude.

I think the 3rd is Tyrion as well. We've already seen 2 dragons accept his help. He may have Targ blood.

I think Bran has a different purpose. The Targaryens will rule again.
way to ruin the spoiler, nerd.

where it really gets interesting whether Snow is the Azor Ahai and whether he takes out the Night's king or, as an undead former child of Winter and Fire, will figure out some balance between fire and ice.

I definitely believe that the Targaryen's will rule once more.

I would like to think that Jon is Azor Ahai, but you never know what they will do in this story.

I secretly want the White Walkers to rule Westeros. I think they're more appealing than many of these characters. Tired of Dragon Queen and her rah rah speeches. Plus she moves to damn slow. But she's hot. I'd smash.

    Snow needs more charisma.

I like the idea of a massive saga that starts off beating you over the head with the fact that every narrative you think you know is wrong and the classic saga tropes will be broken in surprising and horrific fashion. All the while, clues are laid before us as to the actual narrative arc that's finally coming together.

And I've always been partial to Tyrion.

Dani is a badass. She moves methodically because she had to assemble the mightiest army ever!

Unfortunately, I was duped into reading the spoilers that came out a few months ago (and pretty much confirmed by the dude who plays Jaime) and know the answers to all these questions.

The battle scenes are phenomenal! the battle where ramseys army got decimated was awesome. Is/ was there a worse villain than Ramsey? GOT may go down as best series ever for me....sopranos is tops for me right now

Maybe Joffrey. Joffrey was such a little ****. But if you ask me, Olly is the worst of them all. He killed Ygritte, who was the love of my GoT life.

Traditional, move-the-pieces-into-place Game of Thrones season premiere. Great opening scene and you gotta love when Thrones uses the cold open. Loved the comic relief with Samwell as they showed how tedious his training is. That was Jorah that reached out to Samwell, wasn't it?

I think it's funny how much of a dick Euron is. I wonder what prize he's going to deliver to Cersei. Anyway, we're back now. It was a long wait, but it feels good for this to be back.

Looked like Greyscale to me, so yeah, I think that was Jorah. I'd put my money on Euron going after Tyrion. And somehow, Jaime siding with Tyrion over Cersei in the end.

At the end of last season, Dany is telling Daario that he can't come to Westeros because she'll likely need to marry upon arrival. I'm wondering, who does she marry? Does she even need to? Given that she's decided to launch her invasion from her family's ancestral seat at Dragonstone and given that Jon is likely to find his way to Dragonstone in order to start the mining and weaponization of the dragonglass there, I think its fairly safe to say they'll meet. Will Bran have told anyone yet of Jon's lineage? Would Dany view his Targ bloodlines as a sign of family alliance or as a threat since he's from the Rhaegar, 1st-born line? Would Auntie D marry nephew Jonny?

This is the most disgusting show on TV. And I counted exactly zero tits in the premier, which is really the only reason to watch.

For those of us that watched the premiere first-run on HBO, wasn't it cool that there was a countdown shown in between promos for their other shows? They really made this premiere into a huge event. 10.1 million viewers, plus 6 more on HBO Go and DVR playback!

Wonder how the finale of this week's episode will affect Dani's plans to seize the throne. She has Olenna in her ear telling her to get the lead out and it looks like Cersei isn't going to be such a pushover after all.

I really liked how this episode was shot. They worked in some cool scene transitions that we haven't seen from this show yet. The work with the embers and lighting in the last scene was great. Also, that was some entrance by Euron, wasn't it? Swooping in on a plank, crushing a sailor in the process.

Euron's a bad ass. So far my favorite. But with all my faves we know they're unfortunate fate.

I think Dany is just gonna say eff it and attack KL. Won't be easy though.

How does Dany/Tyrion and Co when using the big board to map everything out casually forget about Euron? Obviously the over sight was a big x factor.

Wasn't impressed with euron at all until tonight, he had that villian "it" factor tonight. Last week I thought he fell flat. Still wondering where jorah is going to end up if he gets rid of his grayscale. Liked the way they set up this episode, everything going as planned everyone setting things up and then euron crashes the party.

I know. My guess is the writers are trying to make the fight between Dany and Cersei somewhat fair. At the end of last season many of us wondered how exactly are the Lannisters going to have a chance? I think last nights episode answered that with Euron and possibly Tarlys joining the Lannisters. Personally I think this war is going to be harder than expected for Dany. And with Jon going there he maybe giving another distraction with the WW.

    A good question.

Dany and Tyrion knew from Yara and Theon that Euron had returned, killed his brother/their father, run them off, and become the leader of the Ironborn.

But, did they know (or could they have known) that Euron had constructed a huge fleet to replace (and ultimately to overwhelm) the ships that Yara and Theon stole?

The Mormont family story is, IMO, one of the most intriguing subplots in the entire show.

Jeor Mormont was the family patriarch until he abdicated in favor of his son, Jorah, and joined the Night's Watch. We knew him primarily as the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch and Jon Snow's mentor until some of his own men killed him at Craster's Keep.

Jorah apparently scandalized the family by enterprising in slavery, and therefore had to abdicate to his aunt Maege. We know Jorah as Dany's former bodyguard (and a helluva' warrior in his own right) who contracted greyscale while sojourning with Tyrion Lannister. We'll have to wait and see if Sam Tarley's experimental (and excruciatingly painful) treatment at the Citadel works out for him.

Maege was recently succeeded by her young daughter Lyanna Mormont, whom we know as the Lady of Bear Island. Her character and her story frankly could have been cheesy and contrived, but I'll be damned if that little girl doesn't steal every "Council of the North" scene in which she's featured. [The young actress who plays her is intense.]

I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens when/if Jorah eventually meets up with his cousin, Lyanna.

Hey I have a secret weapon to kill dragons. Would you like to see it?

    Of course!

    Here it is.

    It's a crossbow. I've seen a crossbow before.

But it's bigger than a normal crossbow. Here, fire it.

[Fires the crossbow] Brilliant. Now what?

Now you just have to get the dragon to come into this long hallway and put his head down on that same spot.

    You're fired.
